Founded in 1971, The Photographers’ Gallery was the first independent photography gallery in the world. Now, 39 years later the Gallery is widely recognised as a pioneer in exhibiting, educating and engaging people with photography.
Our new building on Ramillies Street opened to the public on May 19 2012 after two years of transformation. The new building has doubled in size and now features new galleries, an education space, a digital wall, camera obscura and a public lift.
We also host talks, events and artists projects. The Photographers’ Gallery is the largest public gallery in London dedicated to photography. From the latest emerging talent, to historical archives and established artists. We are the place to see photography in all its forms.
